Museum of the Vigneron
A place of memory
A Museum of the Vigneron has been specially created in order to respect the heritage of past generations and to be a witness to the progress of viticulture since the 19th Century. It follows the evolution of the skill of the Vigneron and the tools employed since the end of the 1800s.
The Museum can be seen from the tasting room thanks to a large picture window and gives a view of two very large oak casks.
Recently, the Cave Jean Geiler has restored a really monumentally sized oak cask which is a the center of the Museum. It is the largest still in service in Europe and dates from 1880. It is 4.5 metres long and 4.20 metres in diameter with a total capacity of 35'400 litres, the equivalent of 47'200 bottles. It is the envy everyone else!
